Vardan Mamikonyan (Armenian Վարդան Մամիկոնյան) is an Armenian commander (sparapet), national hero, saint in the Armenian Apostolic Church, leader of the Armenian uprising against the Iranian Sassanids, who tried to impose the Zoroastrian religion. Armenians, having inflicted huge damage to the enemy, were able to defend the right to remain Christians.
Vardan Mamikonyan is a defender and guardian of the Armenian land, a warrior and a knight without fear and reproach. Such heroes are so lacking in the Armenians now and their presence is a guarantee of the survival of the Armenians as a nation and Armenia as a state.
